Your high school year is coming to a close, but the college search continues on. Four college arts programs shouldn’t be missed. UCLA School of Theater, Film, and Television is the only place you’ll find all these disciplines integrated in a single professional school. John Hopkins Peabody Conservatory, with over 150 years of nurturing music education, has built a truly international reputation. Florida State University School of Dance continues to be a pioneer and leader among college dance programs, and at Art Center College of Design, students have exclusive access to professional faculty, facilities, technology, and industry.
At the UCLA School of Theater, Film and Television, the approach to the art of storytelling is completely interdisciplinary, where there are no silos or boundaries between theater, film, television, digital media and cutting-edge research. This is the only place in the world where these disciplines are all integrated within a single professional school. Yet while students are immersed in a variety of ideas, methods and mediums, there is ample opportunity to focus, and pursue what interests them most. Comprehensive undergraduate theater programs combine a critical study of theater with hands-on experience in one or more of its component parts. The Bachelor of Arts degree in Theater provides a liberal arts education and pre-professional training in a comprehensive program that uniquely combines the study of the arts, humanities and sciences with exploration of the principal areas of theater practice. Talented alumni and faculty members have won Oscars©, Emmys©, Tonys©‚ and UCLA Theater has some of the most distinguished faculty and visiting artists in the world. Visit the website
This renowned school of music at Johns Hopkins boasts a preeminent faculty and a nurturing, collaborative learning environment. The Peabody Conservatory, founded over 150 years ago, offers the skills to pursue professional careers in music as well as the education to become cultural leaders in their communities. An acknowledged leader in the cultural life of Maryland, the school has also built a strong international reputation. As a division of The Johns Hopkins University, Peabody takes its place beside the university’s other world-famous centers of research and learning in the sciences, humanities, and medicine, poised to define the contribution of music in our lives in the 21st century. Peabody students go on to occupy the top echelons of the music profession worldwide. However, because they engage in broader, humanistic courses, they also are able to play important roles in society, not just on the concert stage. Three undergraduate programs lead to a bachelor of music degree — Music Performance, Music Education, and Recording Arts and Sciences. Visit the website
