ArtsBridge Summer Fashion Design introduces students to the core concepts of fashion design. Through the creation of a mini collection, each student will develop the basic skills to create a mood board, illustrate their designs and explore fabric and color. Students will be introduced to 3D development through easy patternmaking and draping demonstrations that will allow them to understand the transformation from design sketch to runway garment. This program is designed to give students the creative tools to develop original work for a fashion design portfolio submission.
Applications for summer 2022 are now closed.
Dates: June 20 – 24, 2022
There will be a basic list of supplies needed for the course (estimated cost $250 – $300).

Patrick Boylan has been a sought-after design educator for the past fifteen years at the two most prestigious design schools in the US, the Fashion Institute of Technology and Parsons School of Design. On the global level he has mentored new design talent at universities in China, Taiwan, Turkey, Argentina, and Chile. A graduate of FIT’s rigorous Global Fashion Management master’s program, Patrick informs his teaching with a strong understanding of the business of fashion. Focused on apparel development, Patrick guides his students through the process of transforming their designs from sketchbook concept to runway ready. While the core principles of draping, pattern-drafting, and construction are at the heart of his teaching methods, he is equally at home teaching his students new and dynamic apparel technologies, such as Clo3D, which allow them to design virtually…the future of fashion!
