    Job Description (In-Person Programs)

    Requirements: Must be a former ArtsBridge Summer student. Priority will be given to students who have completed at least one year of college. All staff must be at least 18 years of age by July 18, 2024.

    Dates: Position runs from July 18 – August 2, 2024. 

    Compensation: $1,200 stipend; room & board (room on campus & meals)

    Summer Staff Expectations:

    All ArtsBridge Summer Staff members will have responsibilities as Resident Assistants (RAs) and Faculty Assistants to one or more ArtsBridge Summer faculty members.

    1. As ArtsBridge Summer Staff you will:
      • Respect student and faculty confidentiality
      • Be willing to “roll up your sleeves” and help out whenever possible
      • Perform other duties as requested by head ArtsBridge Staff, such as local errands
      • Help organize evening events with other ArtsBridge Summer Staff
      • Assist with large events including:
        • July 19th student check-in and orientation
        • July 20th initial assessments
        • August 1st final assessments
        • August 2nd student check-out
    2. As a Resident Assistant (RA), your expectations include:
      • Maintain professional boundaries with residents as their counselor and superior
      • Be a visible, available, receptive, and proactive resource in the residence hall
      • Communicate with residents regarding policies and procedures
      • Post and distribute information to residents
      • Rotate overnight duty shifts (6pm – 8am, while students are in the dorms) with fellow ArtsBridge Summer Staff
      • Conduct and enforce nightly curfew checks
      • Respond to and document medical situations and emergencies
      • Mediate residence hall conflicts between room- and dorm-mates
      • Intervene in and document behavioral and ArtsBridge Summer policy violations
      • Communicate with head ArtsBridge Staff (including Community Director & Assistant Community Director about concerns or incidents)
    3. As a Faculty Assistant, your expectations include:
      • Daily setup of classrooms
      • In-class assistance of faculty and students, including daily attendance of all assigned faculty member’s classes and tracking student work and assigned materials
      • Arranging extra help for students outside of class and coordinating any external needs with head ArtsBridge Staff 
      • Assisting with evening sessions taught by assigned faculty member and/or guest faculty

    Additional Positions:

    In addition to our regular Summer Staff positions, there will be one Office Assistant. The Office Assistant will serve as an RA, but not as a faculty assistant. Duties include opening the main office each morning, assisting head ArtsBridge Staff (including Community Director & Assistant Community Director) with administrative tasks during the day, and being available to provide extra help in classes if needed.     Background Checks: Background checks are mandatory and will be run by ArtsBridge. The information needed to run these reports will be provided by the candidate through a separate form when applicable.
