There are as many types of summer programs as there are types of arts students. ArtsBridge students have spent summers honing various aspects of their crafts and gaining valuable experience. While this list doesn’t include all available options, here are some of the programs that have been tried and tested by our students from acting, musical theater, and visual arts to all aspects of music and dance.
Acting & Musical Theater Summer Programs
ArtsBridge Summer — This unique, 2-week intensive gives actors, singers, and dancers specialized guidance from select college faculty on what it takes to be a theater artist with an especially close look at the ins and outs of college admission. Summer 2013 in Boston, MA.
Boston University Summer Theater Institute — An immersive, five-week program, focused on performance training and theatre-making for serious and highly-motivated high school students. Summer 2013 in Boston, MA.
Broadway Dreams Summer Intensive – Students who participate in the week-long workshops receive personal instruction from Broadway performers and industry professionals on acting, vocal technique, song selection and dance. Students also audition for top Broadway casting directors and agents. The intensive concludes with a professional showcase at week’s end, starring students alongside their Broadway faculty.
CAP 21 — The Summer Pre-College Musical Theatre Training Program is a four week program that trains High School Sophomores, Juniors and Seniors in the field of musical theatre performance. Summer 2013 in New York, NY.
Emerson Pre-College Musical Theater Program — Musical Theatre Studio offers rising high school juniors and seniors an opportunity to train in an intensive, 5-week musical theatre program to strengthen performance skills. Summer 2013 in Boston, MA.
North Carolina School of the Arts: Drama Summer Session — Faculty members of UNCSA’s renowned School of Drama, along with distinguished guest artists, are the instructors in this 3-week summer intensive. Summer 2013 in Winston-Salem, NC.
National High School Institute, Cherubs (Northwestern University) — The goal is to bring together gifted young people and superior teachers in an atmosphere of affection, knowledge, and trust with college-level experience in theater arts. Summer 2013 in Evanston, IL.
Stagedoor Manor — Experience total theater immersion plus all of the fun of a great summer camp. With 3-week sessions, young performers, ages 10-18, find expression and fulfillment on stage and in the classroom. Summer 2013 in Lock Sheldrake, NY.
NYU, Tisch: Summer High School — In each four-week program, students are enrolled in college-level courses taught by full-time faculty. Upon successful completion of the summer program, students earn six college credits. Summer 2013 in New York, NY.
Mpulse Summer Performing Arts Institutes (University of Michigan) — Provides an opportunity for approximately 200 young musicians and performing artists to gain exposure to the rigorous training provided by the University of Michigan School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Summer 2013 in Ann Arbor, MI.
Walnut Hill School Summer Theater — Develops theatrical knowledge through performance and classroom work for further study in school and college. The program consists of six productions in five weeks: four plays and two musicals. Summer 2013 in Natick, MA.

Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts (PAFA) — This is the definitive program for talented and motivated high school students: a four-week, college-level art-making experience in the nation’s first and premier school of fine art. Summer 2013 in Philadelphia, PA.
Pratt Institute — High school students have an invaluable opportunity to sharpen their portfolios, get a taste of college life, and earn 4 college credits. Students are immersed in a program of art, design, architecture, or creative writing. Summer 2013 in Brooklyn, NY and New York, NY.
Rhode Island School of Design (RISD) — The six-week summer residential offers high school students a comprehensive introduction to the college art school experience. Students follow a college-level studio curriculum and live in RISD residence halls. Summer 2013 in Providence, RI.

Berklee 5 Week Summer Performance — The Songwriting Workshop offers you the opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of songwriting at any level. Boston University Tanglewood Institute
Young Artists Composition Program — Offers talented high school composers the opportunity to focus for six weeks on exploring and refining compositional skills. Young Artists Vocal Program — As one of the leading summer institutes for advanced young singers, this program nurtures and encourages the development of gifted high-school-aged singers geared toward professional studies. Young Artists Orchestra Program — Under the guidance of professional conductors, artists/teachers, and BSO members, students experience high-quality training through the intensive study and performance of orchestral and chamber music repertoire. Summer 2013 in Boston, MA.

NYU: School of Improvisational Music Summer Intensive — The School for Improvisational Music (SIM) is for aspiring students of jazz and creative music. Since 2001, SIM has held 20 intensive workshop sessions for 800 students from around the globe. Summer 2013 in New York, NY.

Boston Conservatory Musical Theater Dance Intensive — This three-week intensive offers talented young dancers the opportunity to deepen their skills and challenge their abilities as they work with Broadway veterans and acclaimed faculty in rigorous training in ballet, jazz and theater dance. Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet — The 5-week summer program provides unparalleled technical training for beginning, intermediate, advanced and professional dancers, while dance educators come together to participate in the school’s annual Teachers Workshop. Summer 2013 in Carlisle, PA.

San Francisco Ballet — Offers both intermediate and advanced/pre-professional students programs to specifically address their technical and artistic needs. Classes are taught by San Francisco Ballet School faculty and special guests. Summer 2013 in San Francisco, CA.
San Francisco Conservatory of Dance — The three sessions of the summer program this year aim to advance students’ artistic development through advanced training in ballet and modern technique by a stellar faculty. Summer 2013 in San Francisco, CA.
Washington Ballet — Students are accepted into The Washington School of Ballet’s Summer Intensive by audition only. Audition classes will take place in various cities. Students may audition by either attending an audition class or submitting a video audition. Summer 2013 in Washington, DC.
